Why Roberts PTC?

The Roberts PTC is a 100% volunteer organization. EVERY parent and teacher is automatically a member. We strive to build a sense of community within our school by hosting family events, as well as raising funds to purchase equipment and supplies for the school & classrooms to support the growth of our students.

Volunteering ensures that you are part of that advocacy and engagement. Members stay informed of local issues, get to know other parents and teachers, ask questions and contribute to the conversations that go on with school and district leaders.  We hope that every student will be represented by at least one PTC member at home.

Roberts PTC provides:

  • a Facebook forum for parents and families
  • classroom supplies funding for each teacher
  • educational enrichment presentations and assemblies for each grade
  • PBIS Support
  • field trip for each grade
  • family nights like Halloween Bash, and Movie Night
  • fun fundraisers like Robbie's Run, Talent Show, and Spring Fair
  • new student welcome events like Orientation and Welcome back picnic
  • school supplies and spirit wear for Roberts students in need
  • volunteer recruitment & coordination at school events like Grandparents Day & Open House
  • staff appreciation events and recognition
  • advocacy for our students
  • donations and support to our community like UMAEF and Community Cupboard
  • and much more. . .

PTC End of Year Survey

2023-24 School Year Survey Summary

Overview

The Roberts Elementary Parent Teacher Council asked for constructive feedback on the 2023-24 school year.  The survey covered events, fundraising, teacher hospitality, and communications.  Thank you to those who took the time to complete the survey.  We had 25 responses.  You will find the summary survey at the bottom.

We would like to highlight our responses to several comments.

Event Ideas and Improvements

There were several great suggestions including a beautification day, fall fling with crafts, and a sprinkler night.  We love the new ideas and if there are parents passionate about new activities, we welcome volunteers to chair and run the events with support from the PTC Board.

We also recognize scheduling can be challenging.  You’ll see below that we are planning to provide a calendar of events so that you can plan for the things you want to attend.  We are trying to schedule the give back opportunities and fundraisers as well.

Communications

We need to continue to share communications across multiple channels.  Emails from Dr. Grazel, teachers, and the PTC gmail are the most seen with the monthly packets and Facebook coming in 2nd and 3rd.

We already have a 2024-25 calendar in the works and have plans to improve communications via the existing channels and also through grade or classroom liaisons.  We do have a PTC website (https://robertsptc.ptboard.com/home) where we have announcements, centralize volunteer sign-ups*, and handle payments for things like the Spring Fair.

*Note: Teachers may still use Sign-up Genius

Payment Options

The PTC made the change on our website this year to make the buyer responsible for the fees associated when using a credit card.  We have reviewed Venmo as an alternative, but found there are significant limitations where a business account needs to be tied to a personal account and cannot be transferred as the board members change year to year.  Where feasible, we will always offer a cash or check option for individuals to avoid fees.

Facility Improvements

Several suggestions were related to improving the facilities at the school.  For example, getting a digital sign for the front.  Any improvement to the school must be reviewed by UMASD facilities and in some cases, the township or other government entities.  We are looking to add umbrellas to the outdoor learning center tables that were purchased several years ago.
